Dear Camp Families,
I am thrilled to return to the JCC community as the new camp social worker. With a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master’s in Social Work, I am eager to utilize my expertise and passion within my new role. Growing up at the JCC, I have experienced firsthand the powerful impact of positive relationships and the sense of belonging that our camp community can foster.
My approach to promoting positive and enduring relationships between campers and counselors is rooted in active engagement, empathy, and open communication. Creating a supportive and inclusive environment is key to building meaningful connections that last throughout the summer and beyond camp.
I plan to facilitate various team-building activities, group discussions, and collaborative projects, encouraging cooperation, empathy, and camaraderie. These activities will strengthen bonds among campers and counselors and promote a sense of belonging and shared purpose within our community.
Additionally, I will provide opportunities for reflection and feedback, encouraging campers to express their thoughts, emotions, and experiences. This feedback loop will enable us to value and respect one another, celebrate achievements, and continuously improve our interactions and relationships.
I look forward to this new position and meeting and working with your children. I hope to create an open environment where campers feel comfortable approaching me. My goal is for all campers to feel supported, valued, and connected.
Since it is a team effort, I would love to hear any additional thoughts or ideas you, as the parents, feel should be incorporated into my role. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any ideas or questions.

“Mental health…is not a destination, but a process. It is about how you drive, not where you are going.” At the JCC, we are deeply committed to creating a safe and happy place for all campers and staff, where mental health is a priority.
